A Mouse and His Child, stands with Watership Down and The Polar Express as one of those movies that is made for kids which really freaks kids out. So much so that Jessica M. makes a Traumafession over at one of my favorite site, Kindertrauma.
Anyway, A Mouse and His Child is a 1977 animated film based on the Russell Hoban book of 1967. It is about a mouse and his son whom desire to be self winding. It is voiced by Alan Barzman as the mouse and Marcy Swenson as his child - along with Peter Ustinov, Cloris Leachman, Sally Kellerman, Andy Devine, and John Carradine. Is the theme, Tell Me My Name, stuck in your head? Thought so. It was composed by Roger Kellaway (he composed the closing them to All In The Family) and the lyrics were written by Gene Lees - Roger's son, Colin Kellaway
sings it (9). And if you are wondering if there is some way to find a
recording of it, you cannot. I did find one CD of Roger and Gene's work
with Tell Me My Name included but Colin is not singing it - Gene is, and it's not great. If I'm wrong please let me know!
